Description

Hidden away from larger society, sexual violence within institutional settings is often ignored by broader society, rendering detainees at great risk. The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA, 2003) formally addresses the needs of survivors experiencing sexual violence in detention, as well as those with triggered past trauma compounded by detention.
