Vanessa Micale is a writer and creative committed to embodied resilience and relational connections. She practices trauma informed facilitation and workshop development rooted in popular education under the brand Poderosa Voz (which means “Powerful Voice” in Spanish). In June 2021 Vanessa became a certified Resilience Toolkit facilitator through Lumos Transforms. Vanessa has served families, children, and youth in domestic violence shelters, community centers, and juvenile hall through direct services and program management. Her social justice experience in non-profit and public service spans many roles as an advocate, strategist, policy analyst, administrator, organizer, communicator, and facilitator. Throughout her time as a LEAP Cohort 4 Fellow, Vanessa Micale managed a local public health program funded by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) with a focus on prevention of teen dating violence and youth violence. She currently works in public service in communications and public involvement.
