SO WE WANT TO GIVE YOU, YOU KNOW, IN THIS SHORT, LIKE THREE HOURS THAT WE HAVE, WE WANT TO GIVE YOU, YOU KNOW, SOME CONTEXT AND OVERVIEW AND A SAMPLING OF SOME OF WHAT THESE STRATEGIES LOOK LIKE IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS CALIFORNIA AND POTENTIALLY ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. SO, IF YOU COULD GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, SO, TODAY, WHAT WE REALLY WOULD LIKE TO DO IS GIVE YOU SOME OVERVIEW OF WHAT PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS ARE AND IT IS KIND OF A TASTE OF SOME BROAD STRATEGIES THAT CAN BE USED TO CREATE PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS. AND THEN WE WANT TO DIVE INTO AN EXAMPLE. WE WILL HAVE TWO REALLY COMPREHENSIVE EXAMPLES FOR YOU TODAY AND TOMORROW. SO TODAY WE ARE GOING TO BE JOINED BY LOURDES FROM ALL CHILDREN THRIVE WHO WILL TALK ABOUT THEIR PROGRAMS THAT CREATE PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS ACROSS CALIFORNIA. AND THEN TOMORROW, WE ARE GOING TO GO INTO A SAMPLING A PLAY LIST, IF YOU WILL, OF DIFFERENT SPECIFIC STRATEGIES AND PROGRAMS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND THEN WE WILL HEAR ANOTHER COMPREHENSIVE EXAMPLE FROM SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AND HOW THEY ARE WORKING TO PROTECT HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF LGBTQ+ YOUTH IN THE DISTRACT. LET'S START IN ON SOME OF THE CONTEXT HERE FOR THIS FIRST SECTION. AND NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. SO, LET'S START A LITTLE BIT WITH WHAT WE KNOW. WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE IS THAT IT IS IMPACTING PEOPLE AT EPIDEMIC RATES ACROSS THE WORLD IN THE UNITED STATES AND CALIFORNIA. ACCORDING TO THE CALVEX REPORT WHICH WE GOT NEW DATA FROM TODAY, SO WE WILL GIVE YOU THE LINK IN THE CHAT. IN CALIFORNIA ALONE ADULTS REPORT EXPERIENCING PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AT A RATE OF 1 IN 12 AND ONE IN 6 ADULTS HAVE EXPERIENCED SEXUAL VIOLENCE. SO, THAT IS AN EXPERIENCE OF VIOLENCE, BUT WE ALSO HAVE ALMOST 600,000 CALIFORNIA ADULTS REPORTING THAT THEY HAVE COMMITTED PHYSICAL OR SEXUAL OR INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE IN THE LAST YEAR. SO WHAT WE SEE HERE IS EVEN THOUGH WE ARE OFTEN HEARING ABOUT INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE, WE ARE STILL REALLY HEARING ABOUT THESE AS, YOU KNOW, INDIVIDUAL PROBLEMS, FAMILY ISSUES, RIGHT, BUT ACTUALLY, THESE ARE REALLY COMPLEX PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES THAT REQUIRE COMPLEX SOLUTIONS. AND REQUIRE SOLUTIONS AT THE INDIVIDUAL LEVEL, WITHIN RELATIONSHIPS AND FAMILIES, WITHIN SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS, BECAUSE SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE REALLY HAS LONG-LASTING AND FAR-REACHING CONSEQUENCES FOR INDIVIDUALS AND ALL OF SOCIETY. WE SEE LONG LASTING EFFECTS ON FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS THAT AFFECT THEIR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH. IT ALSO CONTRIBUTES TO GENERATIONAL TRAUMA, AND EXPERIENCING VIOLENCE MAKES IT LIKELY THAT SOMEONE MAY EXPERIENCE VIOLENCE AGAIN AND/OR MAY PERPETRATE VIOLENCE LATER. WE ALSO SEE, IF YOU COULD GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, THAT SEXUAL AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE, AND OTHER FORMS OF VIOLENCE ARE IMPACTING CERTAIN GROUPS MORE OFTEN THAN OTHERS. AND THESE GROUPS ARE OFTEN THOSE WHO EXPERIENCE OTHER FORMS OF OPPRESSION AND DISCRIMINATION OR MULTIPLE FORMS OF OPPRESSION AND DISCRIMINATION, BECAUSE JUST LIKE WE SAW THAT TREE FROM THE LAST TIME, VIOLENCE AND POW ARE AND CONTROL ARE SYMPTOMS OF -- ARE SYMPTOMS OF OPPRESSION AND SO, YOU KNOW, WE REALLY NEED TO LOOK AT HOW WE ADDRESS THE ROOTS OF OPPRESSION AND DISCRIMINATION TO GET RID OF THE SYMPTOMS, ONE OF THOSE BEING VIOLENCE. AND WE ARE SEEING THAT THOUGH SEXUAL VIOLENCE AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE DOES AFFECT PEOPLE ACROSS THEIR LIFESPAN, IT IS MORE LIKELY OR MORE COMMONLY REPORTED AT THE START OF THE LIFE-SPAN, RIGHT, OF A AGE 25. SO THOUGH WE ARE SEEING THAT, THAT THERE ARE, YOU KNOW, HIGHER IMPACTS, MORE DATA THAT SHOWS SOME GROUPS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING SEXUAL AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE MORE THAN OTHERS, WE OFTEN ARE TOLD OR THINK THAT THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES, RIGHT, THEIR CULTURAL BACKGROUND, THEIR INDIVIDUAL CHOICES. THE BEHAVIORS THAT THEY CHOOSE FOR THEMSELVES, THE PLACES THEY GO OR THE BEHAVIORS THEY HAVE, RIGHT? BUT, IN ACTUALITY THAT IS REALLY ONLY A SMALL PIECE, RIGHT? THESE ARE RISK FACTORS AND NOT THE CAUSES. AND WE KNOW THAT THE FACT IS THAT PEOPLE MUST CHOOSE TO BE VIOLENT AND THOSE WHO EXPERIENCE VIOLENCE ARE NEVER AT FAULT, RIGHT. SO WE THINK ABOUT THAT WHEN WE THINK ABOUT INDIVIDUALS BUT THE THING WE DON'T ALWAYS EXPAND TO IS THINKING ABOUT HOW PEOPLES -- HOW THE ENVIRONMENTS THAT PEOPLE LIVE IN AND THE SOCIAL CONTEXT THAT PEOPLE LIVE WITHIN REALLY AFFECT THEIR HEALTH AND WELLNESS AND THEIR EXPERIENCE OF BOTH SAFETY AND EXPERIENCING VIOLENCE. SO, WHEN WE THINK ABOUT WHY VIOLENCE OCCURS, FOR SOME GROUPS OF PEOPLE MORE THAN OTHERS, THAT IS VERY CONNECTED TO THE SOCIAL CONTEXT AND THE ENVIRONMENTS IN WHICH THEY LIVE AND WHEN I TALK ABOUT ENVIRONMENTS, I'M NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD OR THE FAMILY THAT THEY GROW UP IN AND THOUGH THAT IS PART OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH PEOPLE, YOU KNOW, GROW UP, LEARN, PLAY, WORK, AGE, IT IS ONLY -- IT IS ONLY A PIECE OF IT BECAUSE WE ARE ALSO THINKING ABOUT, YOU KNOW, WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS OF THE COMMUNITY THAT THEY LIVE IN AS FAR AS WHETHER THEY HAVE SAFE STREETS, WHETHER THEY HAVE COMMUNITY VIOLENCE, WHETHER THEY HAVE ACCESS TO QUALITY SCHOOLS AND EDUCATION, WHETHER THEY HAVE ACCESS TO GETTING THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS SERVICES THAT THEY NEED, COMMUNITY GATHERING SPACES. SO LOOKING AT ALL OF THESE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ENVIRONMENTS AND COMMUNITIES THAT PEOPLE LIVE IN ARE REALLY IMPORTANT TO ADDRESSING THE COMPLEXITY OF EXPERIENCING INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE. SO, YOU CAN GO ONTO THE NEXT SLIDE. OKAY, SO WHEN WE ARE LOOKING AT PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS, BUILDING PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS AND IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTS TO BE MORE PROTECTIVE TO BE SAFER AND TO SUPPORT HEALTH AND WELLNESS, WE ARE LOOKING AT THE CONDITIONS IN WHICH PEOPLE LIVE, WORK, PLAY, AGE, GO TO SCHOOL, ALL OF THOSE PIECES THAT AFFECT HOW WE ARE ABLE TO MAKE THE CHOICES THAT WE NEED TO MAKE. SO ENVIRONMENTS AFFECT WHAT CHOICES PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO MAKE AND THEN HOW EASY OR CHALLENGING IT IS FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES TO BEHAVE IN -- TO HAVE HEALTHY BEHAVIORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR WELLNESS, SAFETY, AND THE WELLNESS AND SAFETY OF OTHERS. SO SOME OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENT YOU CAN PROBABLY SEE WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS ARE HAVING SAFE STREETS, HAVING LIT SIDEWALKS, HAVING COMMUNITY GATHERING SPACES, WHERE PEOPLE KNOW EACH OTHER, PEOPLE WATCH OUT FOR EACH OTHER, PEOPLE ARE INVOLVED. THERE ARE EYES ON THE STREET IN A NEIGHBORHOOD OR AT A PARK. THERE ARE PLACES WHERE PEOPLE GATHER TO WORK ON COMMUNITY ISSUES FOR A COMMON GOOD TO TAKE CARE OF ONE ANOTHER. IT ALSO MEANS THAT PEOPLE HAVE ACCESS TO -- TO EMPLOYMENT AND TO ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY AND THAT THEY CAN ACCESS THEIR JOBS, RIGHT? THEY CAN GET TO THEIR -- TO THEIR PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. MAYBE IF THEY DON'T HAVE A CAR OR IF THEY HAVE A DISABILITY THAT THEY ARE A WHEELCHAIR USER AND THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET MAYBE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OR ENTER INTO THEIR DIFFERENT BUILDINGS, RIGHT? THERE IS A LOT OF THINGS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS THAT GIVE PEOPLE ACCESS TO ALL OF THE THINGS WE NEED TO BE HEALTHY AND THRIVE. WHEN WE ALSO THINK ABOUT ECONOMIC -- WHEN WE ALSO THINK ABOUT THE ECONOMIC AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, WE ALSO WANT TO THINK ABOUT HOUSING AND SAFE HOUSING. AFFORDABLE HOUSING. A PLACE IN A NEIGHBORHOOD THAT PEOPLE HAVE PARKS, ACCESS TO PARKS, TO BE ABLE TO GET EXERCISE AND TO BE OUTSIDE TO CLEAR THEIR HEAD AND TO PROMOTE THE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING THAT COMES WITH HAVING FRESH AIR AND TREES AND MAYBE WORKING IN A COMMUNITY GARDEN AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE HEALTH OF YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. SAFE HOUSING INCLUDES HOUSING THAT IS FREE FROM VIOLENCE BUT IT ALSO INCLUDES HOUSING THAT IS FREE FROM POLLUTION AND MOLD AND THINGS THAT CAUSE INJURY LIKE BROKEN STAIRS AND WINDOWS, SO THERE IS A LOT OF CONSIDERATION THERE. AND OF COURSE AT THE BASE, ALL PEOPLE BEING HOUSED SO THAT THEY ARE MORE PROTECTED AND LESS VULNERABLE TO EXPERIENCING VIOLENCE. SO ALL OF THESE ARE SOME OF THE -- SOME OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS. I WOULD BE REALLY HAPPY TO SEE IN THE CHAT IF SOME FOLKS COULD ADD IN WHAT DO YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT A PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENT OR AN ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNICATED THAT PROMOTES SAFETY AND WELL BEING AND HEALTH AND NOT JUST HEALTH LIKE NOT BEING SICK, HEALTH LIKE THRIVING, HEALTH LIKE HAVING THE KINDS OF QUALITY CONNECTION THAT YOU WANT. I MOVED AWAY WHEN I WAS A YOUNG ADULT, HOWEVER, YOU KNOW, HISTORICALLY, THE LENNOX PARK WAS A VERY DANGEROUS PLACE. IT WAS -- THERE WAS A LOT OF GANG ACTIVITY THERE, A LOT OF DRUG USE THERE, BUT JUST ME GOING BACK -- [ INAUDIBLE ] PROVIDE PREVENTION SERVICES TO THAT COMMUNITY AND GIVE BACK, I HAVE REALLY LEARNED THAT THE CITY AND PARKS AND RECS IS REALLY DOING AN AMAZING JOB AT TRANSFORMING THAT PARK INTO A PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENT, INTO A PROTECTIVE SPACE FOR ALL OF US. SO THEY HAVE A LOT OF CLUBS FOR NOT ONLY JUST CHILDREN, FOR THEM TO PLAY SPORTS AND, YOU KNOW, TO -- THEY HAVE A LOT OF LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES, BUT THEY HAVE SAFE SPACE FOR OLDER ADULTS AS WELL. SO THE PARK IS NOW -- NOW THAT I HAVE GONE BACK IT IS COMPLETELY TRANSFORMED AND IT IS A SAFE SPACE FOR THE COMMUNITY WHICH MAKES MY HEART HAPPY. I ALSO HEARD EXAMPLES CONNECTED TO YOU KNOW, GIVING PEOPLE -- GIVING ESPECIALLY YOUNG PEOPLE, POSITIVE PEERS, THAT IS ANOTHER IMPORTANT PROTECTIVE FACTOR. SO AS WE ARE THINKING ABOUT THESE STRATEGIES, AND, YOU KNOW, LOOKING AT HOW WE CREATE THESE POSITIVE AND HEALTHY CONDITIONS IN WHICH PEOPLE CAN LIVE, WORK, PLAY, GROW, AGE, YOU KNOW, WE WANT TO CONNECT THEM ALSO TO THOSE -- TO THOSE PROTECTIVE FACTORS THAT ARE -- THAT WE SEE IN VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS AND FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES. SO, CREATING THOSE SAFE SPACES, CREATING COMMUNITY CONNECTION. CREATING POSITIVE PEER CONNECTIONS. BUILDING YOUTH AND ADULT LEADERS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS AND CONNECTION IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. SO, LET'S SEE. FREE PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND SMALL CHILDREN AND THAT BENEFITS BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS. BECAUSE THE ADULTS GET TIME TO ALSO, YOU KNOW, DO THE THINGS THAT THEY NEED TO DO TO WORK, TO BE WITH THEIR OWN POSITIVE PEERS, RIGHT? AND FOR THE CHILDREN TO BE ABLE TO BE ENGAGED IN ENRICHING ACTIVITIES THAT BUILD THEIR SOCIAL NETWORK. AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ENVIRONMENTS AND THAT MEANS THAT WE HAVE TO LOOK AT STRATEGIZING, MAKING CHANGE IN A CERTAIN AREA, RIGHT? IN THAT LARGER COMMUNITY AREA. SO, PEOPLE DON'T EXIST IN BOXES, RIGHT? OR IN BUBBLES, EVEN THOUGH WE KIND OF HAVE THEM IN BUBBLES IN A SOCIAL-ECOLOGICAL MODEL. YOU KNOW, JUST AS I SAID BEFORE, WE ARE OFTEN TOLD OR WE HEAR PEOPLE SAY A MYTH THAT, YOU KNOW, THIS IS ALL ABOUT HOW PEOPLE CHOOSE TO BEHAVE OR WHERE PEOPLE CHOOSE TO GO, BUT THE FACT IS, RIGHT, WE ALL EXIST WITHIN OUR CLOSEST RELATIONSHIPS, WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES, OUR NEIGHBORHOODS, OUR SCHOOLS, OUR WORKPLACES AND LARGER SOCIETY. SO THE SOCIAL-ECOLOGICAL MODEL GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK AT HOW DO WE CREATE COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGIES THAT ADDRESS THIS COMPLEX ISSUE THAT IS RELATED TO SO MANY OTHER ISSUES. SO WHEN WE ARE LOOKING AT CREATING PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS, WE REALLY HAVE TO LOOK AT STRATEGIES THAT MAKE CHANGE AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL OF THIS SOCIAL-ECOLOGICAL MODEL. SO THIS LEVEL REALLY LOOKS AT THE SETTINGS THAT PEOPLE LIVE THEIR LIVES IN, LIKE SCHOOLS, WORKPLACES, NEIGHBORHOODS, AND SO LOOKING AT HOW DO WE CHANGE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THESE SETTINGS, IN WAYS THAT SUPPORT HEALTH, WELLNESS AND SAFETY AND IN WAYS THAT REDUCE THINGS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO VIOLENCE SUCH AS POVERTY, SEGREGATION, HIGH DENSITY OF ALCOHOL OUTLETS, UNSAFE STREETS, NON EXISTENT POLICIES, YOU KNOW, BAD POLICY OR NO POLICY THAT PREVENTS VIOLENCE AT SCHOOLS OR IN THE WORKPLACES OR IMPROVING HOW THOSE POLICIES ARE IMPLEMENTED. WHETHER THEY ARE ORGANIZATIONAL POLICIES, SCHOOL POLICIES OR EVEN OUR LOCAL AND STATE -- OUR LOCAL AND STATE LAWS. SO, ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS SOCIAL ECOLOGICAL MODEL AND WHAT I MEAN BY COMMUNITY LEVEL? BECAUSE I THINK THAT THE COMMON -- I THINK ONE OF THE COMMON MISINTERPRETATIONS OF THIS IS THAT ANYTHING THAT YOU DO IN THE COMMUNITY IS COMMUNITY CHANGE AND I ALSO OPERATED ON THIS COMMON MISCONCEPTION WHEN I FIRST LEARNED ABOUT THE SOCIAL-ECOLOGICAL MODEL, I WAS LIKE GREAT WE DO THIS, WE DO SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN RIGHT AND WE DO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT AND THAT IS ALL IN A COMMUNITY. BUT REALLY, THAT IS THE SETTING OF THE STRATEGY. OR THE PROGRAM ACTIVITY. BUT WHEN WE ARE LOOKING AT MAKING CHANGES AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL, WE ARE LOOKING AT A STRATEGY THAT MAKES BROAD CHANGE, THAT MAKES CHANGE FOR THAT WHOLE COMMUNITY. THAT WHOLE SCHOOL, THAT WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD. SO THAT IS AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION THAT I THINK IS A COMMON MISCONCEPTION. ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING THEY WOULD LIKE TO ADD EITHER IN THE CHAT ABOUT WHAT THEY THINK OF AS COMMUNITY LEVEL CHANGE OR IF SOMEBODY HAS A QUESTION. OR SOME OF THE COMMUNITY CHANGE STRATEGIES THAT YOU HAVE WORKED ON, IN YOUR LOCAL AREA? I WILL LET YOU PUT THOSE IN THE CHAT IF YOU HAVE THEM. I THINK ONE OF THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES, RIGHT, IS THAT WHEN WE MAKE COMMUNITY LEVEL CHANGE, IT MAKES CHANGE FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE AT ONCE. AND SO CURRICULUM AND THOSE THINGS THAT WE DO ARE IMPORTANT AND. [ INAUDIBLE ] PART OF THIS ON COMPREHENSIVE CHANGE BUT THEY MAKE CHANGE ONE BY ONE. WE ALSO WANT TO HAVE THESE IMPORTANT STRATEGIES THAT MAKE CHANGE FOR THIS, LIKE BROADER POPULATION BASE. OKAY. BROAD GEOGRAPHY ACROSS THE STATE FROM ARCATA ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SAN DIEGO AND ALL OF OUR MEMBERS IN EAG FROM A VARIETY OF BACK GROUNDS FROM PROFESSIONAL TO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE FROM CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND OTHERS AND WE PRIDE OURSELVES WORKING WITH OUR EQUITY ADVISORY GROUP AND ENSURE THAT ALL WE MENTION IS EQUITY-DRIVEN. NEXT SLIDE. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING WITH 18 ACT-FUNDED PROJECTS ACROSS CALIFORNIA. WE DO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THESE PROJECTS TO IMPLEMENT THEIR CHANGES. SO WE OFFERED 200,000 PER COMMUNITY OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS AND THESE PROJECTS WORK WITH US TO IMPLEMENT THEIR POLICIES AND SYSTEMS CHANGE THAT THEY IDENTIFY, THEY SELECT AND AS I MENTIONED, WE WORK TOGETHER WITH TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN REALLY HELPING TO IMPLEMENT THESE PROJECTS ACROSS CALIFORNIA. NEXT SLIDE. SO THESE ACT-FUNDED PROJECTS SELECT ONE OF OUR FIVE COMMUNITY ACTION AREAS THAT ARE SUPPORTED BY ALL CHILDREN THRIVE. AND THESE COMMUNITY ACTION AREAS ARE CREATING PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS, PROMOTING HEALTHY CHILD DEVELOPMENT, ACCESS TO SAFE AND STABLE HOUSING, STRENGTHENING ECONOMIC SUPPORTS, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, AND OUR BONUS AREA IS MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS WHICH IS REALLY EMBEDDED IN ALL OF THESE OTHER COMMUNITY ACTION AREAS. AND AS I MENTIONED, CREATING PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS, I WILL HONE IN MORE SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THAT WORK AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE LOCALLY AND YOU CAN SEE WE INCLUDE SAFE AND STABLE HOUSING, ECONOMIC SUPPORTS, SOME OF THE FACTORS THAT JESSIE MENTIONED IN HER INTRODUCTION. NEXT SLIDE. SO AS PROJECTS COME INTO OUR INITIATIVE THEY BEGIN TO DEVELOP WHAT WE CALL THE ACT DESIGN TEAM. AND THE DESIGN TEAM IS REALLY A STEERING COALITION OR A COMMITTEE THAT INCLUDES ADULT AND YOUTH COMMUNITY MEMBERS, COMMUNITY SERVING ORGANIZATIONS, CITY COUNCIL AND CITY STAFF AND INSTITUTIONS. AND THESE COALITIONS CAN BE THERE IN EXISTENCE, ALREADY IN THE COMMUNITY OR CAN NEWLY FORM FOR THE ACT INITIATIVE. AND EACH TEAM MEMBER LEADER BRINGS UNIQUE AND CRITICAL CONTRIBUTION TO ACT. SO ADULTS AND YOUTH COMMUNITY MEMBERS REALLY ARE ADVOCATES FOR THEIR POLICY AND SYSTEMS CHANGE. THEY BECOME THAT VOICE FOR THE SOCIAL CHANGE NOT ONLY DO THEY INFORM THE NEED, BUT THAT VOICE TO REALLY DRIVE THE CHANGE THAT THEY ARE SEEKING AND ENSURING THAT THE PROJECT MEETS THOSE NEEDS, IDENTIFIED BY COMMUNITY. THE COMMUNITY SERVING ORGANIZATION, WE FUND A COMMUNITY SERVING ORGANIZATION BUT THEY WORK WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY TO REALLY FACILITATE COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION, GATHER FEEDBACK FROM COMMUNITY AROUND NEEDS AND ON THE STRATEGY AND THE POLICY THAT THEY SEEK AND THEN THEY ALSO HOLD DECISION-MAKERS ACCOUNTABLE TO THE COMMUNITY. SO THAT IS A REALLY CRITICAL PIECE THAT THEY BRING DECISION-MAKERS TOGETHER WITH RESIDENTS AND THAT RESIDENTS HAVE THE VOICE AT THAT DECISION-MAKING TABLE. CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND STAFF ALSO CHAMPION THE COMMUNITY NEEDS, THEY USE THEIR POWER AND THEIR PLATFORM TO PASS POLICIES, AND ALSO MAKE CITY COMMITMENTS TO EQUITY AND SOCIAL CHANGE. AND THE INSTITUTIONS REALLY PROVIDE LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES FOR THE COMMON GOAL OF MEETING THE NEEDS OF COMMUNITY. NEXT SLIDE. WE BUILD THEM DEPENDING ON INTEREST OR FOCUS AREA AND THEY GET TO COLLABORATE AND THEY RECEIVE ALSO GROUP TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FROM OUR STAFF AND SHARED RESOURCES FROM OTHER PROJECTS AND ACT AS WELL. OUR SUSTAINABILITY TA ALSO INCLUDES SOME GRANT WRITING WORKSHOPS, CONSULTATION, FREE CONSULTATIONS WITH AN EXPERT OR PROFESSIONAL GRANT WRITER, WHO AIDS THEM IN SEEKING FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES, AND, YOU KNOW, REALLY ENSURING THAT THEY HAVE A GREAT PROPOSAL TO PUT FORTH FOR SUSTAINABLE FUNDING. WHAT YOU SEE HERE IS OUR PROCESS MAP. THIS IS WHAT WE USE WHEN WE ENGAGE CITIES WHEN THE ACT-FUNDED PROJECTS COME IN AND THEY START TO DEVELOP THEIR CORE AND DESIGN TEAMS. THIS IS WHAT WE USE TO DESCRIBE THE PROCESS OF BECOMING AN ALL CHILDREN THRIVE CALIFORNIA TEE. YOU CAN SEE IT IS DIVIDED INTO NINE PHASES. THESE FACES ARE IMPLEMENTED OVER THE COURSE OF THE THREE YEARS THAT THEY ARE FUNDED WITH US. AND WE REALLY HAVE A VISION TO ENGAGE THEM, TO GROW, THROUGH CAPACITY BUILDING AND ACCELERATE THESE PROJECTS TO CREATE NEW FUTURE WHERE ALL CHILDREN THRIVE. MEANING THAT CHILDREN AND FAMILY ARE THRIVING IN THOSE COMMUNITIES THROUGH POLICIES THAT HAVE BEEN PASSED AND HAVE ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN THESE COMPLEX COMMUNITY COALITIONS. SO THE PHASES THAT YOU SEE HERE ARE PRE-ENGAGEMENT. THIS OCCURS REALLY BEFORE THEY COME INTO THE PROJECT, WHERE THEY START DEVELOPING A SCOPE OF WORK, THEY START THINKING WELL WHO ARE THE PARTNERS IN THIS PROJECT, WHAT IS THE FOCUS AREA. WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY NEED BEHIND THAT WE WANT TO ADDRESS THROUGH THIS PROJECT. THEY MOVE INTO DEVELOPING TEAMS SO THAT DESIGN TEAM THAT I DESCRIBED TO YOU, WE ASK THAT THEY DEVELOP A YOUTH DESIGN TEAM, SO EVERY PROJECT HAS TO INVOLVE YOUTH AND WE HAVE AN ADULT DESIGN TEAM WITH ALL OF THE MEMBERS THAT I MENTIONED AND YOUTH DESIGN TEAM THAT IS YOUTH FOCUSED AND YOUTH LED AND REALLY ENGAGING THEM IN THE POLICY ADVOCACY. WE MOVE INTO A NEEDS ASSESSMENT SO THEY DO A COMMUNITY LANDSCAPE TO REALLY COMPREHEND WELL WHAT IS THE NEED, WHAT ARE THE TRENDS IN OUR COMMUNITY AROUND THESE ISSUES. AND WHAT DATA CAN WE START GATHERING TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE NEED TO ADDRESS IN OUR COMMUNITY. AND THEN FROM THERE, THEY MOVE INTO PLANNING AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT, SO REALLY THINKING THROUGH WHAT POLICY STRATEGIES ARE THIS HE GOING TO FOCUS ON, UTILIZING THE DATA THAT THEY COLLECT THROUGH THE NEEDS ASSESSMENT AS WELL TO INFORM THEM. MOVING INTO POLICY DEVELOPMENT, MORE OF THE CRITICAL COMPONENTS OF DEVELOPING A POLICY, DEVELOPING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS SO THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO TAKE THEIR POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FORWARD, AND HAVE SUCCESS. AND COALITION BUILDING HAPPENS THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT BUT COALITION BUILDING REALLY REFERS TO GARNERING BROADER SUPPORT FOR THE POLICY AND SYSTEMS CHANGE THAT THEY ARE SEEKING, AND THROUGH THE POLICY ADVOCACY, ALL OF THE ADVOCATES COME TOGETHER, NOT ONLY THE DESIGN TEAM BUT OTHER ADVOCATES THAT JOINED THEIR EFFORTS, THEIR CAUSE, COME TOGETHER BEFORE CITY COUNCIL OR BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OR SCHOOL DISTRICT IF IT IS A SCHOOL-BASED POLICY BUT THE IDEA IS THEY HAVE THIS LARGE SUPPORT BY THIS POINT IN TIME AND HAVE SUCCESS IN BRINGING FORTH THEIR POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS. POLICIES CAN LOOK LIKE RESOLUTIONS, THEY CAN LOOK LIKE ORDINANCES. THEY HAVE DIFFERENT THINGS, DEPENDING ON WHAT THE COMMUNITY IS SEEKING. AND ALSO THE POLITICAL WILL THAT EXISTS IN THAT COMMUNITY. AND FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS OR DECISION-MAKERS. AND THEN SUSTAINABILITY REALLY THINKING THROUGH, YOU KNOW, HOW DO SUSTAIN THEIR EFFORTS, POLICY CHANGE IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE, CAN BE REALLY EXTENSIVE, RIGHT? IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO PASS POLICY SOMETIMES AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO SEE THE IMPACT OF THE POLICY. AND THE CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY, THE CHANGE AROUND SYSTEMS, AROUND PRACTICES, AROUND THE ENVIRONMENT. SO, YOU DO HAVE TO THINK ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY AND HOW DO YOU SUSTAIN THIS WORK BEYOND ALL CHILDREN THRIVE. AS I MENTION WE ONLY FUND PROJECTS FOR THREE YEARS, COMPREHENDING THAT THIS WORK REALLY DOES TAKE MUCH MORE TIME THAN THE THREE YEARS WE FUND THEM FOR AND THE LAST PHASE IS PROJECT CLOSE-OUT WHICH IS HAND-IN-HAND WITH SUSTAINABILITY. WE RECOMMEND THESE PHASES IN THE ORDER I JUST DESCRIBED WE DO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT SOMETIMES THIS PROCESS IS NOT LINEAR, MEANING THAT OTHER FACTORS CAN INFLUENCE SUCH AS READINESS AND POLITICAL WILL. THAT IS WHY YOU SEE THESE ARROWS GOING DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS AND THIS IS A ROAD MAP FOR PROJECTS TO COMPREHEND, THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN ALL CHILDREN THRIVE AND HOW TO CREATE THAT TRANSFORMATION IN THEIR COMMUNITY. NEXT SLIDE. ACT FOCUSES ON CREATING PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS TO SUPPORT HEALTHY CHILD AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND PREVENT YOUTH VIOLENCE AND CHILDHOOD TRAUMA. SO WE KNOW THAT FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH TO REACH THEIR FULL HEALTH AND HUMAN POTENTIAL THEY NEED SAFE, STABLE AND NURTURING RELATIONSHIPS AND ENVIRONMENTS AS JESSIE WAS DESCRIBING. BUT NOT ALL CHILDREN AND YOUTH HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY, RIGHT? IT DEPENDS ON THEIR COMMUNITY CONDITIONS, ON THEIR FAMILY CONDITIONS, WHAT TYPE OF EXPERIENCES THEY UNDERTAKE OR EXPERIENCE IN LIFE. SO ACT APPLIES INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO REDUCE VIOLENCE ACROSS THE STATE AND AGAIN PREVENT TRAUMA. WE DO THIS THROUGH INCREASING AND MAINTAINING OPEN SPACES TO FOSTER SOCIAL INTERACTION. STRENGTH AND CONNECTEDNESS, INCREASED SHARED TRUST IN RESIDENCES AND IMPROVE SAFETY. IT LOOKS LIKE EQUITY PROJECTS, COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECTS, VACANT LOT CONVERSIONS THAT IS WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE. ESTABLISHING SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS, JOINT NEWS POLICIES, ESTABLISHING HEALTHY VENDING POLICIES THIS IN PARTICULAR IS IN ONE OF OUR TRIBAL NATIONS WHERE THEY ARE LOOKING AT DECOLONIZING THEIR DIET AND REALLY HAVING HEALTHIER CHOICES IN THEIR COMMUNITY. IN THEIR VENDING MACHINES SO THAT COMMUNITY MEMBERS HAVE OPTIONS, HEALTHIER OPTIONS I SHOULD SAY. REDEFINING PUBLIC SAFETY HAS BEEN A BIG ONE AS WELL AND ALSO EXPANDING THE DIRECTION OF RESOURCES TO SUPPORT CHILDREN AND YOUTH. NOT ONLY LOOKING AT THE PUBLIC SAFETY RESOLUTION, BUT EXPANDING WHERE FUNDING GOES AND REALLY THAT FUNDING IS SUPPORTING YOUTH AND CHILDREN PROGRAMS AND RECREATION AND OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEVELOPMENT. STIPULATING CHILD WELL-BEING AS A RIGHT IN THE COMMUNITY'S GENERAL PLAN IS ANOTHER WAY THAT WE WORK ON THIS. GENERAL PLAN UPDATES THAT REALLY INCLUDE LANGUAGE TO PROTECT CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES. SUCH AS THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL, SUCH AS THE HEALTHY FOOD AND OTHER WAYS, PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE, AND OTHER WAYS THAT WE INCLUDE LANGUAGE AGAIN TO STIPULATE THAT IT IS A RIGHT IN THE CHILDREN'S LIFE. ECONOMIC INVESTMENT IN LOCAL NEIGHBORHOODS AND SAFE AND STABLE HOUSING ARE SOME OF THE OTHER PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENT STRATEGIES THAT WE FOCUSED ON. AND SPECIFICALLY ALL OF THESE STRATEGIES AIM AT PARTNERING WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, TO BUILD CAPACITY, TO PREVENT VIOLENCE, AND WE ALSO HELP TO CONDUCT RESEARCH AND EVALUATE PREVENTION STRATEGIES AND TO DEVELOP THE APPROACHES FOR CHILD AND YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION THAT ARE SCALABLE. THAT IS WHY WE ARE EXPANDING TO MORE PROJECTS BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT THESE STRATEGIES ARE SCALABLE. AS I MENTIONED WHEN I INTRODUCED MYSELF IN HEEL WE PASSED OVER 720 POLICIES AND THESE WERE POLICIES SCALED TO MULTIPLE COMMUNITIES. AND THAT IS WHAT WE ARE ATTEMPTING TO DO WITH ALL CHILDREN THRIVE, REALLY SCALE THESE POLICIES THAT ARE EVIDENCE BASED, THAT ARE BEING IMPLEMENTED, THROUGH COMMUNITY VOICES AND THROUGH COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND BUILDING THAT RELATIONSHIP WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS AND DECISION-MAKERS WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITIES TO CREATE THOSE STRATEGIES, THAT MAKE SENSE FOR THEIR COMMUNITY AND THAT WILL BE EFFECTIVE IN PREVENTING VIOLENCE AND TRAUMA. CHILD AND YOUTH VIOLENCE ARE PREVENTABLE. IT BEGINS WITH UNDERSTANDING THE FACTORS THAT INCREASE OR PROTECT CHILDREN. SO IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO LISTEN TO THE YOUTH, TO LISTEN TO THOSE THAT ARE AFFECTED BY IT. AND THAT IS HOW WE BEGIN THIS PROJECT IS REALLY UNDERSTANDING WHO ALL IS IMPACTED AND INVOLVING PARTICIPANTS FROM THE COMMUNITY SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE THEIR OWN VOICE AND INFLUENCE IN TERMS OF THE PROJECT DIRECTION AND THE WHOLE CHANGE THAT THEY ASPIRE FOR. SO STRATEGIES IMPLEMENTED BY ACT ARE FOCUSED ON PREVENTION AND REALLY AS JESSIE DESCRIBED ARE COMMUNITY LEVEL IMPACTS ON VIOLENCE. SO WE WORK ON A COMMUNITY LEVEL, PREVENTION STRATEGY SO THAT WE ARE ABLE TO CHANGE COMMUNITY CONDITIONS THAT EITHER INCREASE OR BUFFER AGAINST THE RISK FOR VIOLENCE AND TRAUMA. SO I WON'T DESCRIBE THE SOCIAL-ECOLOGICAL MODEL, YOU HAVE ALREADY HEARD FROM JESSIE. I WILL SAY THAT IS WHY ACT WORKS ON POLICY AND SYSTEM CHANGES TO CREATE LONG-TERM IMPACTS AND TRANSFORMATION OF COMMUNITY CONDITIONS. SO, PARTICULARLY IN THE SOCIAL ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS. THE NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. ACT CONDUCTS NEEDS ASSESSMENT AS I MENTIONED AND UTILIZES DATA TECHNICAL TO ASSIST. YOU SEE A MAPPING FEATURE, A STORY MAP, SO WE PROVIDE ACCESS TO ALL OF THESE TOOLS AT NO COULD OF THE TO ANY DESIGN TEAM MEMBER THAT IS INVOLVED IN ACT AND IT IS A LIFETIME ACCESS TO OUR GIS. THE YOUTH ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS PORTION, THEY ARE LEARNING ABOUT THE TOOLS, LEARNING SOME RESEARCH AND DATA, SCIENCE SKILLS AND APPLYING THEM INTO THEIR PROJECT. WE RECENTLY HAD A PRESENTATION IN ONE OF OUR COMMUNITIES WHERE THE COUNCIL MEMBER WAS IMPRESSED BY THE YOUTH'S KNOWLEDGE OF THE DATA COLLECTION, THE ANALYSIS THAT THEY HAD CONDUCTED WITH THE DATA AND HOW THEY WERE PRESENTING THEIR INFORMATION BASED ON DATA. SO THEY UTILIZE THIS DATA NOT ONLY TO MONITOR THE TRENDS IN THEIR COMMUNITY BUT TOLLS TELL THEIR COMMUNITY NARRATIVE. TO SHARE WHAT THEY LEARNED, THE REASON, WHY THIS CHANGE IS NEEDED IN THEIR COMMUNITY, WITH DECISION MAKERS AS THEY ADVOCATE FOR THEIR POLICY AND SYSTEMS CHANGE. NEXT SLIDE, NEXT I WANT TO SHOW YOU A COUPLE OF EXAMPLES. THE NEXT EXAMPLE IS ON MODESTO. MODESTO ACT IS A YOUTH-DRIVEN PARK EQUITY PROJECT THAT SEEKS TO ENSURE THAT CHILDREN ADULTS AND FAMILIES HAVE ACCESS TO SAFE, ACCESSIBLE HEALTHY PARKS AND OPEN SPACES IN THE CITY OF MODESTO. THE PARK YOUTH COMMITTEE, AGAIN PARK YOUTH COMMITTEE IS WHO LEADS ALL OF THE EFFORTS THERE IN THIS PROJECT. THIS IS -- WE BEGAN WITH A GROUP OF 11 YOUTH LAST YEAR IN YEAR NUMBER TWO AND NOW HAVE EXTENDED TO A SECOND COHORT WITH 22 YOUTH INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT. AND THEIR VISION REALLY IS THAT THIS PARK SYSTEM PROVIDES ACCESSIBLE RECREATIONAL, PHYSICAL, CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL RESIDENTS IN MODESTO. SO THEY IN PARTICULAR BEGAN TO COLLECT THEIR DATA AND DO A NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND ANALYZED SOME AFFLUENT PARKS, THEY VISITED AFFLUENT PARKS AND VISITED UNDERSERVED PARKS TO DO A COMPARISON OF AMENITIES, WHAT WAS AVAILABLE AND TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE THAT DATA TO THEN IDENTIFY WHAT PARKS TO FOCUS ON AND THEY SELECTED TWO PARKS IN WEST MODESTO THAT ARE IN LOW INCOME, UNDERSERVED PARKS AND REALLY HAVE BEGUN TO DO ALL OF THE DATA COLLECTION THROUGH SURVEYS THAT THEY THEMSELVES HAVE DEVELOPED AND REALLY ANALYZE THAT DATA TO BRING THAT STORY BACK TO ELECTED OFFICIALS. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO GO INTO SOME OF THESE EXAMPLES. YOU CAN ACCESS, THESE LINKS YOU HAVE HERE ACCESS THOSE IN THE PDF COPY THAT WE HAVE GIVEN YOU AND YOU CAN LOOK AT THE EXAMPLES. THE STORY MAP IS A DIGITAL WAY OF TELLING THEIR STORY, THEY TAKE IT TO COMMUNITY, THEY TAKE IT TO ELECTED OFFICIALS AND PRESENT THROUGH THAT STORY MAP. IT IS VERY IMPRESSIVE. IT HAS VERY DIFFERENT ELEMENTS THAT THEY CAN REALLY SHOWCASE AND FEATURE. THEY HAVE A DATA DASHBOARD THAT BRINGS IN THE SURVEY DATA AND WHAT RESIDENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE NEEDS AND YOU KNOW, WHAT THEY EXPERIENCE IN THOSE PARTICULAR PARKS AROUND LACK OF SAFETY, YOU KNOW, AND WHY THEY DON'T USE THESE PARKS. IT IS REALLY INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT COMMUNITY THEMSELVES ARE SAYING ABOUT THESE PARKS AND BEING ABLE TO TAKE THAT VOICE TO DECISION MAKERS SO THAT IT INFLUENCES THEIR DECISION AND HOPEFULLY IN FAVOR OF THE PARK CHANGES THAT THEY ARE SEEKING. THE NEXT EXAMPLE IS SACRAMENTO. IF YOU TO GO THE NEXT SLIDE. THIS IS REALLY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SAC KIDS FIRST AND YOUTH FORWARD, THEY SUCCESSFULLY PASSED MEASURE L DURING THE NOVEMBER 2022 ELECTIONS AND THIS MEASURE ALLOCATES AMOUNT OF GENERAL FUND REVENUE EQUIVALENT TO 40% OF TOTAL REVENUE GENERATED FROM CANNABIS TAX. 40% OF CANNABIS TAX IS DEDICATED TOWARDS CHILDREN'S FUND FOR POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS SUCH AS MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELLING SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT, EARLY PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION. HUGE WIN. SACRAMENTO WILL HAVE $10 MILLION IN THIS YEAR TO INVEST IN YOUTH. AND NOT ONLY THAT, THE ACT TEAM IS WORKING TOWARDS HEARING FROM THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SURVEYS, WHAT IS IT THAT THEY ENVISION AS, YOU KNOW, THEY ROLL OUT AND IMPLEMENT THESE PROGRAMS? WHAT DO THEY NEED? WHAT DO THEY ENVISION SO THAT THEIR VOICE IS CONSIDER IMMEDIATE THE FUNDING OF THESE PROGRAMS AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CHILDREN'S FUND. VERY EXCITING WORK. NEXT SLIDE IS VALLEJO WORKING ON A PUBLIC SAFETY REDUCTION, TO GO THE NEXT SLIDE. PUBLIC SAFETY RESOLUTION TO INCLUDE YOUTH PROGRAMS THAT PREVENT VIOLENCE AND MITIGATE THE IMPACTS OF VIOLENCE. SO, IN PARTICULAR, THEY ARE WORKING WITH LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO COLLECT DATA ON VIOLENCE AND CRIMES AND USING IT TOLLS MONITOR TRENDS AROUND YOUTH VIOLENCE. THEY ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING THE RESOLUTION BY USING THIS DATA AND RESEARCH THAT THEY HAVE COLLECTED AND WILL BE PRESENTING TO CITY COUNCIL IN THE FALL. VERY EXCITING TO SEE NOT ONLY THAT THEY ARE LOOKING AT ENFORCING DIFFERENT PUBLIC SAFETY MEASURES, BUT ALSO REDIRECTING FUNDS TOWARDS YOUTH PROGRAMS AND PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE. AND THE LAST EXAMPLE IS BAKERSFIELD. SO BAKERSFIELD IS WORKING TOWARDS GENERAL PLAN UPDATE. AND THEY ARE INCLUDING LANGUAGE FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS AND COMPLETE STREETS AS WELL AS INCLUDING CHILD WELL-BEING AS A RIGHT. SO THEY ARE REALLY INCLUDING YOUTH AND ADULT VOICES TO BETTER NEIGHBORHOOD CONDITIONS AND FOSTER SOCIAL INTERACTION AND IMPROVE SAFETY THERE IN THEIR COMMUNITY. ALL OF THESE PROJECTS WORK TOWARDS YOU KNOW, CREATING COLLATERAL MATERIALS THAT THEY CAN USE IN COMMUNITY, THAT THEY CAN USE WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS TO CONTINUE TO EXPAND THE SUPPORT FOR THEIR PROJECT AND THE POLICY AND SYSTEMS CHANGE THAT THEY ARE SEEKING. SO AS YOU HAVE SEEN ALL OF THESE PROJECTS, REALLY APPLY COMMUNITY-LEVEL STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE HEALTHY CHILD AND YOUTH OUTCOMES. AND I HAVE ONLY SHOWCASED A FEW OF THEM, BUT YOU CAN ACCESS ALL OF OUR POLICY MENU THROUGH OUR REIMAGINING CHILD WELL BEING DOCUMENT, SHELBY CAN SHARE THAT EITHER TODAY OR LATER. WE ARE LOOKING AT RELEASING SOME PORTFOLIOS FOR EACH OF THE PROJECTS AS THEY EXIT WE WILL HAVE A PORTFOLIO DESCRIBING THEIR SUCCESSES, CHALLENGES AND THE IMPACT IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND IN ADDITION, WE CONDUCT INTERVIEWS BOTH WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS, WITH CITY STAFF AS WELL AS THE PROJECTS THEMSELVES TO DESCRIBE THE EXPERIENCE IN ALL CHILDREN THRIVE AND THE IMPACTS. WE WILL BE RELEASING AN EVALUATION REPORT AFTER THIS COHORT. THIS IS OUR FIRST COHORT OF ACT CITIES OR PROJECTS.
