Today is the start of the World Cup in South Africa. Whether it is called soccer, football or futbol, many people consider the World Cup to be the most important athletic competition for fans throughout the world.  In fact, a few minutes ago, I just heard one of my colleagues at CALCASA gasp as South Africa scored against Mexico.
Yet, this event is not only about athletics.  Man Up,  a global campaign to activate youth to stop violence against women and girls, will bring together a prestigious team of delegates, along with artists, athletes and activists to launch a five-year campaign at an inaugural Young Leaders Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa during the 2010 World Cup.
What a great opportunity to bring the prevention of sexual violence and domestic violence to the world. Man Up partners include the Ms Foundation for Women, VDay, NoVo Foundation and many others. Check them out!
