Upon graduation from The University of Kansas, Andrea accepted an AmeriCorps placement focusing community service and at risk-youth in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area. This is where she was introduced to the domestic violence field as a volunteer at Rose Brooks Center. From sorting clothing to providing childcare at Rose Brooks Center, service is one of Andrea’s core values. This guided her to social work practice and ultimately grew passionate about domestic violence advocacy. Andrea was inspired by the strength and resiliency of survivors and was empowered to advocate for justice in the various systems they face.

For the following 15+ years, Andrea’s domestic violence advocacy expanded to include crisis intervention in health care setting, residential advocacy and program management. Andrea was cross trained in Batterer’s Intervention programming and has presented on various topics related to domestic violence. She serves on the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence membership committee and is a member the National Association of Social Workers, Missouri’s Chapter. In August 2021, Andrea transitioned to be the Director of Community Programs at Rose Brooks Center’s providing leadership to the Bridge Program, Legal and non-Residential advocacy, Health Services and Blueprint and Lethality Assessment Program.
