The ongoing global economic crisis could have far reaching social effects for children worldwide.  As many face financial hardship, the risk of trafficking children for sexual purposes increases.
To address these concerns in North America, The Body Shop USA, ECPAT USA, and the Somaly Mam Foundation, are joining hands to raise awareness and resources to help keep the world’s children free from trafficking.
Please lend a hand.  Here’s how:
Visit The Body Shop USA location near you or online and purchase their Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream. The Body Shop USA will donate a percentage of each purchase to ECPAT. We are so grateful to companies like the Body Shop for recognizing the importance of protecting children from sexual exploitation and for supporting our efforts.
Here are other ways you can help:

  1. Donate directly to ECPAT-USA.  We need your help to continue our programs to prevent the commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking of children and make sure that every child enjoys his or her right to grow up free.  Click the “donate” button at www.ecpatusa.org.
  2. Educate yourself and tell your friends. The more people who understand the issue, the more hands will be joined in ending trafficking. Learn more about the issues by visiting the ECPAT-USA website: www.ecpatusa.org
  3. Purchase a Tassatag and put it on your luggage. Tassatags are bright, heavy, hand-woven cotton luggage tags that help you spot your luggage more easily while reclaiming children’s lives.  It is practical, environmentally sensitive, fair trade and with it you can make a difference:  www.tassatag.org.
  4. When you travel, use a company that has signed the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism.  When you use a Code of Conduct company you are patronizing a company that has voluntarily agreed to help prevent child sex tourism.  Click here to view the full list of signatories.
