During the 2010 National Sexual Assault Conference, which took place in Hollywood Sept. 1-3, there were more than 80 workshops. As a part of the Film & Media festival, there was a panel called The Media & the Message.

In this panel, Hollywood, Health & Society and writers from three popular primetime dramas (Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, 90210) discussed the innovative use of TV storylines as a vehicle for raising awareness of sexual violence topics, the challenges of portraying sexual violence storylines accurately and sensitively, and the power of educating millions of viewers about sexual assault prevention in entertainment media.
