Moderator Ashley Maier poses with Roi Elam & Colleen D'Agostino from The Material.

During the 2010 National Sexual Assault Conference, which took place in Hollywood Sept. 1-3, there were more than 80 workshops. As a part of the Film & Media festival, there was a panel called Music Matters: Engaging Musicians.
Prevention practitioners often overlook the power of musicians to influence behaviors. This workshop made the case for engaging musicians in sexual violence prevention and sexual health promotion work. A panel of musicians and others involved in the industry provided examples of how they have contributed to social justice/charitable causes, discussed best practice for including them in work, and answered audience questions.
