During the 2010 National Sexual Assault Conference, which took place in Hollywood Sept. 1-3, there were more than 80 workshops. As a part of the Military Track, there was a workshop called Strengthening Military-Community Partnerships to Respond to Sexual Assault.
Sexual assault is a serious problem in the civilian community and the military. To address the needs of military personnel who have been sexually assaulted and to encourage reporting, DoD SAPRO partnered with Pennsylvania Coalition Arrive Rape, Office Victims of Crime and RAINN in order to improve response to military victims. These partnerships led to the development of a training program for civilian victim advocates to better support service member victims of sexual assault and enhancing the national hotline with resources for military survivors.
Presenters: Bette Stebbins & Hallie Martyniuk
