The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has just released a Request For Applications for its new initiative Dating Matters: Strategies to Promote Healthy Teen Relationships. Up to four local, city, or county health departments will receive funding to implement the comprehensive teen dating violence prevention initiative in high-risk, urban communities.
Each funded community will implement the following activities in 5-6 schools:
- CDC-developed student curricula that will be implemented in 6th and 7th grade
- Safe Dates which will be implemented in 8th grade
- CDC-adapted Parents Matter! (adapted for use with teen dating violence) that will be implemented with parents/caregivers of students in 6th-7th grade
- Families for Safe Dates that will be implemented with parents/caregivers of students in 8th grade
