Yesterday, President Barack Obama released a proclamation to “urge all Americans to support survivors of sexual assault and work together to prevent these crimes in their communities.”
The proclamation says that April is a time to rededicate ourselves to breaking the cycle of violence that threatens lives, erodes communities and weakens our country. It includes information about additional resources for service members and military families through www.SafeHelpline.org. The proclamation also lists the White House’s 1 is 2 Many website, which includes information about Vice President Biden’s efforts to end violence against women.
As we reflect on the progress we have made and the distance we have yet to go,” the proclamation reads, “let us recommit to empowering survivors and fighting for a safer future for every American.”
