SCAM ALERT – False conference invitation being distributed

It has come to our attention that a fake international conference announcement is being distributed in CALCASA’s name. The title of the conference is “Crises of Sexual assault and violence against women/war against women trafficking and child labor international workshop.” This conference announcement is a scam – the distributor of this scam it has NO affiliation with CALCASA at all. People who respond to the announcement are asked for a great deal of personal information, and to make reservations at a hotel in Dakar via credit card. The text of this malicious announcement is below:

“The California Coalition Against Sexual Assault, a statewide coalition of California’s rape crisis centers/child Labour and prevention programs, provides information on resources, training, legislation, and issues helpful to individuals and groups committed to ending sexual violence and child labour.
On behalf of the above mentioned organization (CALCASACL), we invite you to participate in this forth-coming summit on Crises of Sexual assault and violence against women/war against women trafficking and child labor international workshop.
The aims of the conference is focused on how to bring together researchers and practitioners to device modalities on how to eradicate and abolish sexual violence(Rape)by men and teenagers raping and beating females, especially their wives, and how to abolish child labour.
Child labour is the practice of having children engage in economic activity, on part or full-time basis. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labour in India, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and some other parts of the world.
The international Congress meeting is scheduled to take place from December 9th – 13th 2013 in California the United States and in Dakar-Senegal, from December 16th – 20th 2013.
Note that all interested delegates traveling documents and visa to enter the United States to attend this workshop will be assisted by the organization,in obtaining the visa in their passport. Free air round trip ticket to attend this meeting will be provided to all participants.
Note that paper presentation is open to any interested participants willing to present paper during the summit.”
