CALCASA is participating in a free event on “Understanding Sexual Abuse & Sexual Assault: Causes, Consequences and Prevention” prior to the conference on Tuesday, October 28 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This is a free event and will curate a conversation about sexual abuse, sexual assault, and the prevention of sexual violence with panels of leading experts in the field.
In addition, on Wednesday, October 29 from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, CALCASA’s Executive Director, Sandra Henriquez, and Director of Advocacy Services, Denice Labertew, will be presenting a pre-conference institute titled “Keeping the Victim at the Forefront: Collaboration Between Victim Advocacy and Sex Offender Management”. This workshop will look at the important role that victim advocates can play in the management of sex offenders. In gaining an understanding of the distinct purposes and functions of victim advocates and those working within sex offender treatment and management, partnerships that keep victims/survivors at the center can be formed.
We highly encourage participation at this conference and public event. Please share with your staff, board, and community partners.
