Today, the National Football League (NFL) announced a five-year commitment to support survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Additionally, the NFL pledged funding to support the National Domestic Violence Hotline (The Hotline) and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) that will provide funding to state coalitions and local advocacy programs.
CALCASA is pleased with today’s announcements and looks forward to building long-term partnerships between the NFL, state coalitions, and the local programs that directly serve survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Meaningful coordination will help boost the capacity of local rape crisis centers and will help us change the culture of violence that persists in our nation.
In light of recent events, local and national hotlines have seen an increase in the volume of calls regarding sexual assault and domestic violence. The widespread national media attention has led men and women to begin to recognize patterns of abuse in their own lives and turn to community-based organizations for support and resources.

CALCASA stands in solidarity with victims of sexual and domestic violence and will continue to advocate for increased funding for local rape crisis centers to support the diverse needs of survivors.
