Description

This discussion will allow RCCs seeking to establish internal PREA response teams to hear from RCCs who have successfully implemented internal PREA response teams for the provision of rape crisis services to survivors who are in detention. In sharing their experience in developing an internal PREA response team, RCCs can provide inspiration and concrete tips for their fellow agencies.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will understand how developing a PREA Response team institutionalizes services for incarcerated survivors in a long-term, sustainable way.
  • Participants will explore how developing an PREA Response team increases internal capacity to provide services and support to incarcerated survivors and build relationships with state and local facilities.
  • Participants will identify strategies to build a PREA Response team through training, hiring practices, and developing clear roles and responsibilities.
