Description

This two-part web conference series will provide sexual assault advocates with a foundation for being able to provide appropriate support and advocacy to sexual assault survivors with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The second session in this series will explore the prevalence and incidence of sexual violence and people with I/DD and the impacts of trauma on people with I/DD. Additionally, the session will introduce person-centered services and provide information on accommodations and accessibility. Join VALOR and the Arc of California to build capacity for serving survivors with I/DD. 



Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to describe the prevalence of sexual violence for people with IDD
  • Participants will be able to identify risk factors for experiencing sexual assault and barriers to accessing services
  • Participants will examine the impacts of trauma on people with IDD
  • Participants will be able to describe person centered services
  • Participants will be able to evaluate accommodations & accessibility strengths and weaknesses in their own organizations
