Almost 200 people attended the California Department of Public Health’s “Ending Violence Against Women and Teen Dating Violence: A forum for Primary Prevention Advocates” held in Sacramento on July 13-14, 2010. This fifth annual gathering focused on teen dating violence.
I gave a workshop on “Emerging Themes in Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence Prevention”, and CALCASA’s Chad Sniffen co-facilitated a panel titled “Building Intergenerational Partnerships for Preventing Teen Dating Violence.”
Other speakers included an opening keynote by Jackson Katz calling for greater engagement of men to address men’s violence against women; a session by Elizabeth Reed on “Losing the Gender in Gender-Based Violence” and Clea McNeely, author of The Teen Years Explained; A Guide to Healthy Adolescent Development discussing adolescent development.
CALCASA’s PreventConnect Project recorded many of sessions and will soon release them as podcasts.
