During the 2010 National Sexual Assault Conference, which took place in Hollywood Sept. 1-3, there were more than 80 workshops. As a part of the Wellness Track — sponsored by the Joyful Heart Foundation — there was a workshop called Self-Care Tools for Everyone! – Breathing, Yoga and Writing.
Focusing on exercises and practices for stress reduction, anxiety, PTSD, fatigue and general well-being, it explored mind, body and Spirit. Learning simple, easy ways to activate parasympathetic nervous system for calming and grounding, participants played and discovered what their bodies need to be in a state of wellness and how to find ways to live closer to their truth, with intention, purpose and meaning. Attendees left the workshop with solid, practical tools to integrate into their lives, promoting self-healing, awareness and connection to themselves and others.
