CALCASA and the Legal Aide Society-Employment Law Center of San Francisco (LAS-ELC) have been working together for more than 2 years to provide advocates and survivors with information about workplace rights for survivors of sexual assault. Last year, we held a series of regional Legal Advocacy Institutes throughout California focused on employment rights for survivors. Then LAS-ELC staff attorney, Anya Lakner, shared information with CA Rape Crisis Center advocates related to the LAS-ELC’s  SURVIVE (Surviving Violence and Increasing Viable Employment) Program, which offers services related to:

In order to make this information more accessible to advocates and survivors, the LAS-ELC and CALCASA have put together video podcasts explaining these rights in three languages: Spanish, Mandarin and English. These specific videos describe survivor’s employment rights related to protected time-off from work (does not include paid time off) to receive services such as counseling, case management, legal advocacy, etc.  You can click on the videos below to watch in a specific language.
