In October the Golden state turns purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). CALCASA strongly believes we can not end Violence Against Women unless both the Sexual Assault and the Domestic Violence fields work together.  In CALCASA’s 2013 report Reciprocal Advancement we highlight the intentional linking of both fields to bolster resources, support and leverage our strengths.
“Our movement is inextricably linked to other struggles for social justice” as we kick start October we move forward intentionally recognizing and working with those dynamics of reciprocal advancement. Domestic Violence has clear correlations with sexual violence and this month we recognize the distinctions and differences to honor the courage of survivors and to recognize the dedication of advocates and allies. CALCASA stands strong in our commitment to end sexual and domestic violence through prevention and support. CALCASA remains in solidarity with our sister coalition the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence and we encourage everyone to take part in Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
