Last night the Department of Education closed the public comment period on their proposed regulations on Title IX. There was an outpour of comments submitted by advocates and organizations across the nation. Public Policy Associate, John L. Finley,  submitted a response on behalf of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault, “Strong Title IX protections are invaluable to the work of preventing sexual violence for young people, who are at an obscenely high risk for experiencing rape or other forms of sexual assault…
CALCASA calls on the Department of Education to immediately withdraw this NPRM and instead focus its energies on vigorously enforcing the Title IX requirements that the Department has relied on for decades, to ensure that schools promptly and effectively respond to sexual assault, harassment and violence.”
