The Department of Education sought written comments on its proposed Title IX regulations regarding sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, anti-LGBTQI+ discrimination, and discrimination against pregnant and parenting students.  These recommendations are a great improvement from the changes in rules made during the previous administration.

VALOR has signed on to two letters commenting on the proposed Title IX regulations – from the National Women’s Law Center and the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence.  VALOR joined hundreds of local, state, national and tribal organizations to share our voice to strengthen Title IX.

The National Women’s Law Center VALOR joined 188 national, state, and local organizations that advocate for survivor justice, gender justice, and/or other civil rights by signing the National Women’s Law Center’s Title IX comments.  VALOR also joined over 75 local, state, national, and tribal anti-sexual violence organizations to sign on to the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence’s comment on Title IX draft rules.

These comments are consistent with VALOR’s concerns about Title IX which we have  written about in the past. As we are celebrating 50 years of Title IX, VALOR is dedicated to advancing equity throughout our institutions and communities.
