Description

Our relationship with money affects how we engage with ourselves, our communities, and our work. This web conference is designed for staff who have basic knowledge of sexual violence and intimate partner violence and are interested in learning about the connections between interpersonal violence and financial security. This training will support you in exploring your relationship with money, how this shows up in your life and work, and how you can incorporate financial security building into your prevention work. In this session, Sharon Lim (she/her), FreeFrom’s Financial Capacity and Training Manager, will share the basics of economic abuse; walk participants through a money exploration exercise; provide examples of how to incorporate financial capacity building into future trainings; and explore financial harm and healing in the workplace. Participants are welcome to engage with the exercises as much or as little as they would like.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the basics of economic abuse and its relation to sexual and intimate partner violence prevention.
  • Identify areas in which attendees can incorporate financial capacity building into prevention training.
  • Explore areas of potential economic harm and opportunities for economic healing in the workplace.
