Health Equity Training (Part One and Two)

Audience: Open to all California Preventionists 

Description: This two-session web conference focused on the intersections of health equity, health disparities, and SV/IPV. Topics contributing to the discussion included an overview of the Social Determinants of Health and shared risk and protective factors, including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), that impact rates of violence for individuals and communities. This training identified examples of program strategies that integrate health equity.

  • Mighty Fine, MPH, CHES (he/him), Interim Associate Executive Director of the Division of Public Health Policy and Practice at the American Public Health Association (APHA).
  • Kimber J. Nicoletti-Martínez, MSW, LCSW (she/her), MESA Director/Principal Investigator, and the Latino/Farm Worker Outreach Coordinator at the MESA Community Empowerment and Violence Prevention Program.
  • Sydney Ormerod (she/her), Director of Prevention at the Women’s Resource Center in Newport Rhode Island.
