Description

This web conference will provide an overview and examples of program strategies that
promote participant leadership and shared decision-making with youth and adult community
members in program activities and implementation. The training will discuss strategies for
building participant voice and leadership such as community assessments, participatory action
research, and coalitions or advisory boards, as well as specific program models showing success
in public health and violence prevention such as the Close to Home and
Promotores/Community Health Worker Models.



Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to list and describe the four phases of the Close to Home Model.
  • Participants will be able to describe the purpose and benefits of Promotores/Community Health Worker programs.
  • Participants will be able to identify key components of effective community engagement.
