Objectives:

  • Apply culturally relevant and trauma-informed principles when providing support to transgender and gender-diverse (TGI) survivors of sexual violence.
  • Increase confidence in implementing evidence-based strategies and building trusting relationships with transgender and gender-diverse (TGI) individuals.
  • Recognize how stigma, discrimination, social determinants of health, and the current public policy landscape influence the experiences, safety, and well-being of transgender and gender-diverse (TGI) survivors of sexual violence, and identify opportunities to provide affirmative and inclusive support..

Description: Beginning with a macro-level exploration of oppression, this session examines how trauma, stigma, social drivers of health, and the current policy landscape intersect to shape the experiences of transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGI) survivors of sexual violence. Participants will leave with concrete tools and evidence-informed strategies they can immediately apply to strengthen trust, promote healing, and build belonging for TGI sexual violence survivors.
