Objectives:

  • Participants will learn practical strategies for developing meaningful collaborations that move beyond one-time presentations and evolve into sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Identify practical tools, resources, and strategies for building and strengthening partnerships between community colleges, rape crisis centers, and community organizations.
  • Explore best practices for cultivating successful, long-term collaborations, including approaches that reduce barriers, increase access to services, and improve survivor outcomes.

Description: Community colleges serve some of the most diverse student populations in higher education, requiring comprehensive approaches to survivor support, prevention, education, and response. Yet many Title IX offices operate with limited staffing, often relying on a single individual to manage compliance, prevention efforts, outreach, and case management. These capacity challenges can create barriers to providing holistic support for students impacted by sexual violence.

This presentation explores how intentional partnerships between community colleges, rape crisis centers, and community-based organizations can bridge service gaps, strengthen prevention and response efforts, and create a more coordinated support network for survivors.
